WOW...can't believe it has been almost two years since I last posted. Obviously, blogging is not high on my priority list...just never seem to have time to update...and when I think of it, so much has happened in between, I can't choose what to blog about!

So the Lord has blessed us with two more amazing years in our home at Fox Creek..somehow, some way, He has provided us a way to make our house payment each month, & THAT is a miracle in this economy! PRAISE His name!

We learned about 2 months ago that WE ARE FINALLY GOING TO BE GRANDPARENTS!
YES, it's true, my youngest daughter Kendall  is about 16 weeks pregnant (after losing her 1st pregnancy after only 7 weeks) so it is TRULY a blessing, and we cannot wait to enjoy our 1st grandchild sometime around Feb 21 2013!

My dad is doing really well these days, considering he is 82 years old, and survived cancer treatments back in 2010. Another wonderful blessing to have him here & still able to drive, living in his own home!

And my sweet oldest daughter Kelsey is so blessed, she is still with Quintiles, got a recent promotion & very involved in her New Charlotte church & her friends...although she felt she had to move out of her home in Charlotte (due to safety concerns, lots of break-ins & assaults in her neighborhood, and as a singel young lady living alone, she just did not feel safe & could not get a good night's sleep so she moved out, placed her things in storage, and rented her Townhome out. She is now in the process of signing a lease on a new place to move into (rent) for a few years until she is able to sell her place & buy something else! Meantime, she has been on 2 mission trips to Haiti in the past 2 years, and she truly has a heart for missions, especially for loving on little ones, so she is praying right now about a possible 3rd trip! PRASE JESUS for BOTH my precious girls!

until the next time I feel led to post, God Speed!

well, once again, it has been a YEAR & 1/2 since I last posted, can't even believe I can still log in to my account! ANYWAY...what a year it has been. Kendall DID get married as planned last year, & is settling into married life with her new husband & sweet step-daughter Allie.
In May of this year, Roger & I finally got to take a wonderful brief vacation to our favorite spot in TN...and it's a good thing we went when we did, because in June, my dad was diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma (cancer) & we have spent months taking care of him & he has been in & out of the hospital for treatments .... Never expected to spend the last half of 2010 learning all about chemo and the effects & seeing it first-hand...but I am very thankful that it seems that they treatments have worked & my 80 year old dad is on the road to recovery. PRAISE GOD for that, and the fact that the chemo has not made him sick, just weak & his white count goes down, but nothing has been as bad as we had imagined when we first heard his diagnosis.
Looking forward to better days & a blessed Christmas season wiht NO MORE hospital visits!

Oh The Changes a Year Can Make

Well, obviously , I have not posted for almost a whole year (well, 10 mos) so I guess my blogging is really hap-hazard...but oh my goodness, what has happened in the past 10 mos.
First, (but not in any kind of chronological order)...I lost my precious Mom on May 12, 2 days after Mother's day this year. She was 77 years old, but you would never have known it....she still worked part time, shopped, cooked, baked, drove, ran errands, shopped, sent cards, took care of my dad, shopped, went out to eat, enjoyed watching her shows on TV (Y&R, Dancing With the Stars, American Idol, & Pro-Bull-Riding!), talked on the phone & listened to my oldest daughter, Kelsey , shopped ! Suffice it to say she was a VERY active 77 year old...and I still cannot believe she is gone...but the one peace that I have is that I know she is safely in her Father's arms in heaven, and I WILL see her again! Losing Mom has left a HUGE hole in all our hearts, and a month later, I still cry at least once almost every day...but I am told that gets better with time.
We also lost my 93 year old great aunt-Nuttie (pronounced like "hoody" with an 'N' (whom my Mom spent the last 10 years taking care of -4 of which was while she was in a nursing home & my Mom would go every day or two to take her clean clothes, bought her clothes, shoes, and brought her snacks, etc -trying to make her as comfortable as possible....Nuttie went to be with the Lord on Dec 10,2008...she went peacefully in her sleep, she just one morning, went all over the nursing home in her wheel chair--full of unexpected energy...then by around lunch time, she just seemed to lose all steam, and fell into a deep sleep, from which she never woke up, she just stopped breathing by that afternoon & slipped away while she slept.
Also, my oldest daughter Kelsey, bought her first home in a nearby city (she had been living about 2 1/2 hours away since college, & she is 26 -so we were so thankful she moved closer to home (about 30 minutes away now)...and she LOVES having her own townhome. She is still traveling all the time for her job with a large pharmaceutical company, but may try to do less of that sometime in the near future.
Meanwhile, my YOUNGEST daughter, Kendall, is engaged & getting married on July 18th of this year...WOW...can't believe my baby (she turns 24 the day after her wedding) is getting married & will soon be living with her new husband...can't really think about that too much yet, or the tears will start again!
Over the past 8 months or so, We, like many others in our country, have went through some VERY difficult times financially...my husband Roger is a self-employed painter, and the housing market starting last year pretty much put his income at around, ummm, $0 for several months, which really had us in fear of losing our home...but the Lord saw us through, without ever even having a late payment on anything....with many prayers from our family & friends, and MUCH MUCH cutting back (or cutting OUT!) everything that was not an absolute necessity! PRAISE GOD for He is GOOD...
Speaking of God being good, our church, only 3 years old now (in August) finally have a wonderful church building of our own! It is PERFECT, and right downtown in the middle of everything...so what a ministry field we have there....another great blessing from our GREAT GOD in the past year...AMEN!
Until next time, (or next month, or next year?!)

SUMMERTIME AGAIN! Love it love it love it

Well, it has been a VERY long time since I have felt the urge to post...but here I am, in the middle of a very HOT summer in the south...& I LOVE every minute of it! Swimming, biking, & NOT being cold...umm hmm.
My oldest daughter has just (finally) moved closer to home...she has lived about 2 1/2 hours away from here ever since going off to college back in 2001, so it has been a very long time since she has actually lived here...but she has purchased her own home, a town house about 45 minutes away from us, & she is extremely excited about owning her own place. (She has had a roommate ever since college, so this will be fabulous!). One thing, though, the town home is new construction, & will not be ready for about 5 more weeks, so ...guess what? She had to move back in with ol' Mom & Dad for a few weeks...HA! This should be interesting...but seriously, the time will fly & we will enjoy it! Our younger daughter is about to start student teaching when the fall semester starts, and then, GRADUATION in DECEMBER! Whoo hoo, our daughter will be a teacher!
Meanwhile, our almost 2-year old church (two years Aug 6th!)...is finally purchasing a building of our own! PRAISE GOD...and it looks as though this building will suit our needs perfectly-plenty of room for lots of activities...PLUS, we still have the Freedom On The Square place for weekly activities & youth gatherings also...GOD is SO good!
The past few weeks have been kind of tough at work, as I probably mentioned in an earlier post, I am a staff insurance agent in a small office in our city & as with many businesses, keeping good help is VERY difficult...but we now have 2 pretty good ladies that are full time ...but three weeks ago, one of the ladies went on a 2 week vacation & then the 2nd week she was gone, the other lady went on a week's vacation, so for two full weeks, it was basically just me & the Owner agent...and we have a VERY large book of business, so things were really rough for a while, BUT...thankfully, both ladies are now back, & things are getting back to normal...
Meanwhile, my migraine headaches are continuing on (not sure if I mentioned that before), but I have these horrid headaches on a regular basis...any number of things could trigger them, I am thinking eating greasy food, sometimes being outside when the ozone count is high, eating too much chocolate :(( or even stress (imagine that!) could be the main culprits...anyway, I have one today (started yesterday morning when I got up).. these darn things seem to come on Fridays A LOT...for some reason, & they usually last 3-4 days...so it is NOT fair that my weekends are spent in pain! I keep taking Ibuprofen and/or Tylenol...but nothing really helps until it has run it's course....I know there are migraine remedies out there, but I just HATE side effects, so have never had the nerve to try anything else...seems like everything I hear of, has these 'side effects' that seem worse than the headache itself, so I just keep suffering with it...
OK, enough about me for today, maybe I'll post again soon, OR...may be months again, who knows!? Have a blessed summer, all who may happen to stumble upon my blog!

October/ & A Message to R

Well, October has arrived, and next Saturday marks our 1st anniversary in our new home. I can say that even though the HUGE new house payment is really tough, we truly LOVE this place and being out in the woods...it has been an awesome year!
I am sad today, for my mutual blogger friend "R", who just experienced her 3rd miscarriage this week. I know that R does not believe in God, and this makes it double-y sad...BUT, I DO believe, and I know without a doubt, right now at this moment, R's little 'Dread Pirate' is somewhere laughing in the clouds with Jesus, because our Heavenly Father wanted him with HIM in Heaven instead of in this big 'ol mean world right now, even though this causes pain to DP's mom, R...for a season....and we will NOT know the true reason until we join Him there...
My prayer is that R will see that God IS real, and He only wants her to draw near to HIM, so he can take care of her for a lifetime, and so that she can be with her 3 little precious children one day that she was unable to bear here, in the only Home that really matters...!
May God bless you R, and J, in your desire to create a family...may He see fit to bless you with that and that you will experience the true JOY of His love, through that blessing of a child.
In His Love, Malia

Ah, Sweet September in the South

September is here, and , well, here in the southeast, that does NOT mean cooler weather!
Still in the 90's & not much cooler in the evenings, yet.
I, however, (as you may have learned from my previous post) am VERY happy with the extended summertime climate, being very cold-natured.
An old friend from FL , whom I had not seen in person in 14 years, came to visit last weekend with her husband & oldest daughter. We had a great time relaxing & catching up on each other's lives. She came to our home (which we just finished building & moved into last Oct), and she was thrilled for us...she just couldn't get over the fact that our kitchen has TWO 'pantries'...one for the food, and one for supplies (such as wrap, paper plates, napkins, etc) and the bottom is a slotted space for my baking pans)...she said "this is just WRONG!" HA! I told her since I helped choose what we would have in the plans, I was going to make CERTAIN I had enough storage!
(The old house we moved from (lived there 20 years!) had just old painted cabinets that you had to get down on your knees to see into, and I was determined to remedy THAT situation!)
Next weekend, our small town has it's annual Apple Festival, and our church, called Freedom Church, will be having a booth there (really, it is more than a 'booth', we expect to set up several tents). We will hand out water, church info, and one of our members has procured some small soft teddy bears to hand out to the children, which will be wearing little Freedom Church T-shirts and have an opening in the back to place a small cross. The children will be told the story of Jesus dying on the cross for OUR sins, and will be told that if they want more information about this, to bring their parents to FREEDOM CHURCH! What better way to spread the Gospel message than through the ones Jesus called to Himself , the CHILDREN! (Matthew 19:14)
The following weekend, I am having my entire dad's side of the family over to our home for a big cookout...it will be a reunion, of sorts, as about one year ago, I left the church that most of my family attends & went with our pastor (that was at that church at the time) to go start a new church, which is our FREEDOM CHURCH. So I do not see most of this side of my family & I am SO looking forward to getting back together with them to catch up on their lives.
Have a wonderful September, all & probably when I get time to write again, it really WILL be fall-like weather. God Bless!
